With new curriculum and game plans, Sage Hill Lightning girls’ tennis team is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“There are lots of young potential players this year. We’re not superstars yet, but there’s lots of talent,” A.G. Longoria, long-time head coach, said. Both varsity and J.V. are expected to thrive under new leadership and direction with many promising freshman and new assistant coaches.

With several new assistant coaches, Sage Hill’s girls’ tennis has implemented group teaching, giving J.V. and varsity a chance to mingle and learn together. The primary focus of the season is giving everybody a chance to play, an objective demonstrated in the creation of a second J.V. team to include all players.

Having lost all five all Academy League players from last year and the year before, Coach Longoria plans on “being very good next year” with future goals including a CIF Championship and an Academy League Title.

Anticipated varsity events include games against Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor. Tournaments started in September.
