Girls’ Lacrosse has won its first league championship in school history, finishing the regular season with a 12-1 record.
Sage Hill girls’ lacrosse has won 12 consecutive games after dropping its opener to Orange Lutheran.
The Lightning found its rhythm early in the season with non-league wins over Segerstrom, Tustin, and El Toro. In a dominant performance on March 18, the Lightning won 14-8 against Aliso Niguel, a team that they had lost to the previous season.
After a breakout season last year, the Lightning have continued to build on its success. Led by captains sophomore Gabby Park and senior Ava Khan, the team has developed stronger coordination and teamwork.
“We have prioritized strategizing formations and developing new plays. Maintaining high energy has also been a key contributing factor to the team’s success,” sophomore captain Gabby Park said.

Girls’ Lacrosse currently stands first in league after wins over Rosary, Irvine and Portola. The Lightning have improved their communication and collaborative scoring this season.
“We’ve built great team chemistry, and our communication on the field has improved a lot, which has helped us create more scoring opportunities,” assistant coach and Sage Hill alumna Ava Herin said.
The team has also developed a more structured style of play, with contributions from every player.
“We run plays involving three or four players, and we place an emphasis on smooth transitions,” Head Coach Kelsey Turchi said.
The team includes many newer players who have stepped up to contribute both offensively and defensively.
“The freshmen have really shown up and shown out this season,” Turchi said.
After securing the league title, the Lightning now looks to build on its first CIF appearance last season and return to the playoffs.
“Every player has been focused since the start of the season, and we are all working toward a common goal,” Turchi said.
