Sage Hill’s Dance Program, led by dance teachers Sydney Smith and Taleen Shrikian, presented their spring showcase, “Out of Frame,” on April 2.
Intricate, visually striking choreography highlighted artists and paintings throughout history. Incredible performances covering artists like Banksy, Salvador Dalí and Rembrandt elevated the crowd’s amazement and heightened the atmosphere. The expression of each dance illustrated the creativity behind choreography.

The show began with “A Palé,” a routine inspired by Frida Kahlo and her colorful and unique style. Performed by the Honors Synergy Dance Ensemble, the piece created a unique sense of imagery.
“The Frida Kahlo dance was different from anything we have ever done before. It emphasized storytelling through movement, which made it very exciting to interpret to a dance,” senior London Green said.
Many dances were also choreographed by the performers themselves. Junior Mika Ramezani and senior Cordelia Cieplucha choreographed and performed “It’s Already Gorgeous,” inspired by Jason Toth’s work.
“Creating choreography for Synergy allowed me to understand a new side of dance,” junior Mika Ramezani said. “I viewed dance from a different lens, making intentional decisions that challenged me to analyze and trust my own creative voice.”
The show spotlighted a routine with all seniors, dancing together on stage for the last time.
Inspired by Pablo Picasso, the final dance included the entire dance program. The piece illustrated the immense amount of effort encapsulated throughout the show.
“I loved being able to dance with everyone for the last dance,” sophomore Ella Nami said. “It showed all of our hard work on stage through us coming together for one big dance.”
