Football Defeats Fairmont Prep 38-7, First Home Game

Breaking a 13-game losing streak on Sept. 6, Sage Hill School’s boys’ varsity football team defeated Fairmont Preparatory Academy 38-7 in its first home football game of the season.

Game Highlights:

  • Sage Hill ended its losing streak with a 38-7 win over Fairmont Prep Sept. 6 led by quarterback junior Keith McCord.
  • The team’s improved execution on both sides of the ball contributed to the win.
  • Both the passing game and running game were efficient, with McCord’s 14 completed pass attempts for 180 yards and junior Beaumont Roth’s total of 87 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  •  Improvement spanned throughout the team, as sophomore Alfonso Corona’s 69 yard rush demonstrated.
  • Although the team was challenged by the opposing quarterback’s ability to rush, it prevailed in defense.
  • Senior Will Burns was a jack-of-all trades, leading in tackles and receptions with one touchdown and a 5 for 5 kicking record.
  • Junior Vincent Wetmore topped the receiving list with one touchdown and 48 yards in total.
  • The defensive and offensive lines were crucial as the defense forced four fumbles, ultimately resulting in the team’s victory.
