Sage Hill varsity football will be playing the season’s first home game against Fairmont Prep School on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. on Ramer Field.

After the opening game against Calvary Chapel, a 7-19 loss, the team hopes to secure its first win of the season and break a 13-game losing streak.

“The 2013 Sage Hill Football Family made great strides in its season opening defeat…they have what it takes to compete at a high level in 2013,” said head football coach and boys’ athletics director Gregory Tolver in a written statement.

In three games of the last four years, Sage Hill’s varsity football team defeated Fairmont Prep School.  This game, the team promises, will be no different.

“It’s a culmination of a summer’s hard work and learning from mistakes. It’s just a matter of execution,” said varsity football player senior Griffin McCalla. “Wins are going to happen.”

The Daily Pilot reviewed key players for both teams, including sophomores Keith McCord II and Beaumont Roth and senior Samuel Masarik.

Expect not only a good game, but also music from DJ Robert Ortiz, the national anthem sung by senior Keivon Akbari and food from CDM Yogurt and B. Candy.

Before kickoff at 7 p.m., the CDM Yogurt Frozen Yogurt Truck and B. Candy will be selling tacos, hot dogs, cookies, frozen yogurt, chips and candy, and Sage Hill spirit wear will be for sale.
