Sage Hill’s Open House event on Oct. 4 promoted the middle school and the high school to over 1500 prospective and current families, a staggering increase from last year’s 1051.
The event notably highlighted the construction of the middle school, as this up-and-coming addition to Sage Hill has been a key topic of interest among most prospective families. Specifically, the event featured a presentation on the middle school’s plans for next year led by Mr. Salin, the head of Advancement, and a designated table under the tent, which helped spark more interest from parents and students. The presentation demonstrated rendered pictures of what the middle school will look like, and families were able to have conversations with middle school representatives about their specific questions.
Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Peter Jordan, Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Leyla Hanjan and Admissions Coordinator Tina McDaniel coordinated the event and managed the ongoing activities. Student Ambassador Co-Chairs Brady Lee and Annika Shah helped manage the ambassadors and regulate the event.
Hanjan explained how the prospective families were very pleased with the event, highlighting the Campus Tours led by Student Ambassadors and the Student Ambassador Panel.
“The tour guides were friendly and were able to tailor their tours to the guests’ interests,” said Hanjan.
Student Ambassadors worked around the clock, sending two tours heading out every ten minutes, which doubled the amount of tours given in previous years. Selected Student Ambassadors in the Blackbox panel spoke about their experiences at Sage Hill School in an authentic way that resonated with the audience.
Future plans for new open houses remain uncertain; however, the middle school will remain a top priority. Once the middle school opens, Sage Hill has plans to enroll half of the ninth-grade class to balance the influx of graduating eighth graders.
