Water Polo Wins Four Games
Sage Hill’s water polo team completed four victory games at Costa Mesa High School on Sept. 13-14, defeating San Juan Hills High School 12-5, Tustin High School 8-2, Fountain Valley High School 5-4 and JSerra Catholic High School 9-4.
The opposing teams, all from schools much larger than Sage Hill School, had strong players, but Sage’s water polo team proved itself to be a worthy adversary.
Three female team members, freshmen Laurenz Dodge and Paige Solaas and sophomore Rachael Jaffe, swam against the all-boy teams from the four other high schools.
“It wasn’t awkward because [opponents] just treated me like a normal person, a normal player,” Jaffe told Daily Pilot. “They were a bit surprised at first, like, ‘Oh, they have a girl on their team.’ But then they got over it and they kept playing.”
