A Better Sage

When it comes to the 2015-2016 school year, there are several things incoming sophomore co-chair Ashton Carroll has in mind to help Sage Hill continue its growth in a positive direction.

“We’re really going all out this year,” Carroll said.

By this Carroll was referring to school dances, one of the things she thinks could use some improvement in addition to attendance at sporting events and town meetings.

In terms of school dances, Carroll mentioned student council’s efforts to work towards bettering them by implementing new and exciting concepts that should increase student participation.

“I’m looking forward to the dances…” Carroll said. “…I think we’re gonna have some really fun ones.”

But dances aren’t the only concern of Carroll’s; student council also has a few ideas in mind for how to enhance town meetings by ensuring that the whole community is involved and more communication is taking place among students.

“We’re working on making town meetings more efficient,” Carroll said.

Having participated in cross country, basketball and track at Sage, Carol has come to recognize a need for more support at sporting events as well, something she thinks could be fixed through the inclusion of more food trucks.

“I think we can put in some incentives to get people wanting to go,” Carroll said.

Nonetheless, despite there being areas for improvement, there are also current aspects of Sage that Carroll really enjoys and values such as its wide class selection and tight-knit community, which is enforced with the school’s small size.

“Everyone can rely on each other,” Carroll said.
