Music, magic, Rubik’s Cubes—Sage Coach is going to have it all tonight at 7 p.m.

“Sage Coach is an event that’s about bringing out the people in our community with incredible talents and abilities that we don’t ordinarily get the opportunity to see,” said Mary Robinson, Theater Teacher and Producer of Community Programming. “We called it ‘Sage Coach’ because ‘Sagechella’ just didn’t sound right. ‘Sageapalooza’ didn’t fly either.”

The idea for Sage Coach was truly inspired. Robinson didn’t begin to truly formulate exactly what this event would become until she saw freshman Ethan Vovan performing with his Rubik’s Cube at Town Meeting.

“I didn’t want [the show] to be a talent show, per se,” said Robinson. “But I did want it to feature [what] our students do incredibly well that they don’t get the opportunity to do in the classroom.”

So what can we expect? “Two bands,” said Robinson. “One freshman-sophomore group, Thermite, and one junior-senior group, The Torches.”

There will be soloists playing instruments or singing songs, as well as a few alumni who have asked to come and perform their own songs. Also featured are Vovan on his Rubik’s Cube and sophomore Elijah Soto performing magic tricks.

Opening night begins with a pre-show 6-7 p.m. in the Le Bon Family Lobby featuring DJ junior Jacob Fish and complimentary food and refreshments from the Studio Café.
