Season Recap: Girls’ Golf
Girls’ golf kicked off the season with only four returners and six brand new players, some of whom had only a few months of experience backing them.
Now, they are ending the season with seven wins and only three losses.
“I’m proud that they tried really hard and everyone made efforts to improve, and I can see that too,” said coach Nicole Middaugh.
The team effortlessly beat St. Margaret’s Episcopal School as well as most other schools in the Academy League in both home and away games.
With two previous losses against Whitney and Saddleback Valley Christian, the team fought its hardest on Wednesday Oct. 16 to tie with Saddleback Valley Christian School for league championship. With another loss, the team is now tied for third place in Academy league.
“I really liked bonding with our team,” said co-captain senior Mariah Wilson. “No matter the outcome, I think we had a really good season, and I’m really happy to have played with everyone on the team,”
Despite its losses, the golf team looks toward the next few years optimistically.
The record of seven wins and a third place spot in the Academy League, despite the inexperience of the rather young team, bodes well for the golfers as team members grow more experienced, improve their skills and become closer as a group.
“Our team right now is full of potential,” said co-captain senior Cindy Qi. “I hope that our future team can work hard and have fun at the same time. I also hope that as a team, each member can build the other up both as golfers and as Sage Hill students.”
