With the clock under three seconds and Sage down by three points, junior Jack Strohman catches a pass from freshman Cooper Green. As time expired, the ball went through the hoop and the bench mobbed Strohman; he had just forced overtime.

Sage Hill (8-13, 3-4) would go on to beat Whitney 65 – 61 in overtime and win a crucial game in the competitive Academy League

“Every win in the Academy is important towards making CIF and that shot could end up being the difference if we make CIF or we do not, ” Green said.

Sage’s Boys’ Basketball team currently sits in fourth place in the Academy League and on track to make CIF, but the team feels that they are not performing up to expectations.

“Obviously we are struggling, but we are way better than how we are playing right now. I think we still just got to learn how to play together,” Strohman said.

Lead by star junior center Johny King, the team starts two juniors, two sophomores, and a freshman. They are a young team that is improving every game and becoming more and more confident.

“We are starting to get some momentum and starting to play like we are capable of. If we can sustain this momentum, we can make a run in CIF,” Green said.
