Welcoming Jeffrey Feland

A teacher who loves the classics and the Roman culture, Jeffrey Feland joins Sage Hill as the head of the Latin program in the World Languages Department. After Dr. Feland received his Bachelor’s degree in Classics and English with an emphasis in writing from UC Davis and his Masters and PhD from UCI, Feland taught at VanDamme Academy, a private school in Aliso Viejo, from 2010 to 2017 before coming to Sage.

Feland said, “I have been interested in coming to Sage for several years and have always kept it on my radar. So when I heard that there was an opportunity available, I jumped on it immediately.”

He has always wanted to teach Latin full time and Sage gave him the opportunity to live out his dream.

Feland said, “at Sage, I look forward to interacting with a community of students who are so engaged and motivated and are all very highly intelligent.”

Although Feland has high expectations, he wants his students to develop a love for the Classics and enjoy learning.

Feland said, “I expect my students to learn a lot and have a lot of fun.”

His goal for Latin students is to develop a strong understanding and appreciation for the Roman language, culture and history.

Feland said, “in Latin, we get to explore the Ancient world in a really fun and interesting way that is different from modern languages.”

His love for Latin and the Classics extends to outside the classroom. He is the advisor for the Junior Classical League (JCL) at Sage Hill.

Since joining Sage, Feland has enhanced the Sage Hill language department through his knowledge and love for the Classics.
