#Lunch Bags
Packing a sandwich, cookie, water bottle/drink, fruit, and an inspiring handwritten note in bagged lunches alongside other volunteers, the Hashtag Lunchbag group hosted their first event on campus a few weeks ago. “I believe that this project helps our surrounding community in that it gives awareness to the issue of hunger within the many homeless populations around the world, as well as, spreads a positive message of harmony, in that when people come together to solve a problem or work towards a goal of helping others in need, it can be accomplished,” senior Gregory Park said.
After discovering this inspiring humanity service movement dedicated to feeding the homeless through its main Instagram platform, Park came up with the idea of partnering with them for service learning. The group, which consists of Elliot Kim, Gregory Park, Tommy Lee, Amir Asadibagheri, Grant Janavs, and Taras Polakoff makes and distributes lunches in local areas. “I know every member of our group has a passion for helping people in need,” Park said.
The service learning group wanted to share the experience with the Sage Hill School community and were pleased with the result. “We made a total of 325 bagged lunches for the homeless, which was amazing!” Park said. “It was very inspiring and heartwarming to see so many students, as well as, faculty come together after school on a Friday to help make lunches for the people who really need it.”
