Freshman Manu Nanda: Professional Yogi
Freshman Manu Nanda is 14-year-old certified yoga instructor. Manu and his brother, Arya Nanda (junior at Sage), have been exposed to yoga since a very young age, and are now both professional, certified yogis.
“I started practicing [yoga] since when I was eight,” Manu said, “at first I didn’t have any opinion about [yoga], but then I was like okay, this is really cool.”
The Nanda brothers often lead yoga classes at their father’s local studio, Yoga Shakti. And now on top of that, Manu Nanda also instructs Coach Connolly’s yoga class during G block here at Sage.
“It’s really cool how Sage offers its students yoga so kids can starting practicing at a young age,” Manu said, “yoga calms me down and is fun to practice.”
Coach Connolly is thrilled to have Manu help with instructions so she can offer yoga students a complete, personal experience.
“Students teaching students has freed me up to watch class and do individual adjustments,” Connolly said, “Manu is a very talented teacher with a very positive future: he has been well-received by the students.”

Wow Manu, you are a true inspiration. I would have never thought that I would be so connected to yoga but after you taught me my life has changed. Thank you so much for what you did for me and introducing to such an amazing activity.
