Boys’ Tennis Wins International Match, Thunder Down Under vs. Lightning on Top III
The Sage Hill boys’ tennis team defeated The Peninsula School of Mt. Eliza from Victoria, Australia, 13-9 in the Thunder Down Under vs. Lightning on Top III international tennis match Oct. 3 at The Tennis Club.
Key players in the match included freshman Omead Moini and juniors Kian Etedali and Shayan Emtiaz, who all swept two singles games and one doubles game.
This game was the third time in the past six years that The Peninsula School’s tennis team visited Sage Hill School. Although Peninsula won the first, Sage defeated them in the next two matches.
“It was a fantastic opportunity,” head tennis coach A.G. Longoria said. “Playing against a tough tennis team in an international match is such a great experience.”
The visiting team home-stayed with Sage tennis families from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4. On the night of the match, the tennis team held a barbecue for the visiting Australians because Sage Hill School was their last stop before returning to Australia.
