Lauren Hausman – Sophomore, Madeline Sharp, leaps into the air during the Dance Team performance. Sage Hill’s Dance Team preformed at the halftime show during the homecoming football game on November 6th, 2015.

Eliana Theologides-Rodriguez is a senior in the Dance Ensemble and a crucial member in bringing the Ensemble together. She learned her very first dance steps when she was only four, and ever since she came to Sage Hill she has been a member of Synergy.

When I came to Sage, I had been dancing with a studio for almost ten years.  I was used to the flashy, competitive side of the sport, and had never been exposed to how artistic and meaningful dance could be,” the dancer said. “It gave me confidence, and later taught me how to express my emotions in a healthy and artistic way. With Synergy, dance is more about art than about winning. We just want to convey a message, that’s all.”

Many people wonder about who choreographs the dance shows that Synergy so artistically performs. Eliana is one of the five seniors that create the dances, but she humbly stated that it’s not a very big deal.

“It’s a common misconception that I’m dance ensemble head or captain or whatever, but I want to dispel that rumor,” Theologides-Rodriguez confirmed. “I choreograph, but so do four other girls, and the privilege just comes with seniority. There are no captains or leadership roles in Synergy, and I think that’s what makes it so cool. We’re all equals here.”
