Vice President Matthew Aghaian

Matthew (Matt) Aghaian was recently elected vice president on student council. A rising junior, Aghaian is very involved and passionate about the community, which may have been the reason he won a normally senior level position on Student Council.

“I’m so appreciative of all the students who have given me this opportunity to lead our student body as vice president,” said Aghaian. “It is truly an amazing feeling, yet it is still hard to believe that I have been elected.  It just proves to me that students here are willing to go beyond the norm in order to try something new out; in this case it is voting a junior as V.P.”

Aghaian participates in Sage Hill Singers, takes rigorous academic courses and is a member of the debate team. He’s a committed student ambassador and a great asset to the theater program.

Most importantly, Aghaian is described as kind, confident and humble. “He is years ahead of his time,” said Sage alumna Margaret Ann Re (‘13).

Aghaian plans to change a lot of things this coming year with his co-worker, elected president rising senior Rachana (Cha Cha) Pillai.

“I speak on behalf of Cha Cha when I say that both of us want to bridge the gaps between the grades to create an even more cohesive Sage Hill community,” Aghaian said, explaining his commitment to fostering community on a social, academic and political level.

“Because Cha Cha and I come from different grades and perspectives, this goal is even more realistic,” he said.
